Rock Bottom

“Ouch.  Think I hit rock bottom,” said a gentleman, with a smile, I was speaking with a couple of days ago.  This was his response to the question, “How did you become successful?”  He is now a vibrant and successful individual.  He is not the only person who has hit bottom only to rise to the top.  Many years ago I wrote a column for a paper whose owner/publisher had lost everything twice before, his millions gone.  He never gave up and told me , “This time I’m keeping it.”  He did hit his one million dollar goal and continued his climb upward.

The businessman I had been speaking with shared that he had hit some really hard times which deeply affected him on emotional, mental, and physical levels, as well as financial.  “I was at the end of my rope.  Depression was beginning to hit me hard.  I no longer could stand to be cooped up and closed off from the world around me.  I knew if I didn’t get out into the world the darkness of depression would be all-consuming and it would be all over for me.  I made a decision to clean up and go out, reluctantly at first, to have a late breakfast, walk the mall, enjoy a nice lunch and get on with my life.  Returning home that evening I sat in my chair, contemplated the day, the people I met and conversations I had during the day.  That was what helped me to move past the darkness and negativity and made life more manageable for me. ”

He continued, “As the days passed I would continue to revisit those places which gave me a positive boost while improving my outlook on life and myself.  I had conversations which offered me insight, learned more about people and that my life wasn’t as bad as I thought.  Long story short, I began to meditate, set goals, investigated different areas which held an interest for me and when one popped out at me, I at once saw myself as extremely successful in this field of endeavor.  Today, I am reaping the benefits of my decision to get out and live life.  If it wasn ‘t for hitting rock bottom and moving out of the negativity I don’t know if I would still be above ground.”

As I sat listening to his story I was deeply moved by his desire to move upward and be a mentor.  As he left we shook hands and wished each other continued success.  We never did introduce ourselves but he did say he was from out-of-state.

It was a joy meeting this man and what an inspiration he is to world around him.  In the interest of brevity this story was shortened as he shared so much information with me.  I will write more about this encounter next week. 

I want to share a quote given to me years ago, “Rock Bottom is the Springboard to Success.”

A Different Christmas Story

A Different Christmas Story was sent to me by a minister friend who is into mysticism and spirituality sans religion.  I asked him for permission to print some of what he wrote and he said yes.  I hope you find this not only interesting but informative.  

To all, Let Your Light Shine!

From the vastness and darkness of The Great No-Thing which gave rise and birth to The All, from which all flows, visible and invisible, there is a Light that shines brightly within us called The Christ (Christos), a title meaning the anointed one.  Each of us has this Light within us and to the point we recognize our spiritual power and ability to overcome the challenges in the desert of life, we find, have revealed to us, our true inner nature and life becoming a light in this world.  The birth of the Christ (Christos) within begins with a pinpoint of light of understanding appearing in our mind.  As we recognize it and follow this light of spiritual revelation, star in the east, we become en-lightened, as our inner wisdom and unconditional love marry, become as one, thus is the seed of spiritual understanding and awareness planted and as we nurture it and become enveloped in it’s love and light we transform over time, becoming more aware of our spirituality and inner power to overcome “what seems to be” with “the power that is.”  In the ancient teachings of spiritual evolvement symbols and stories where metaphors and enhanced when a person of greatness came to be.  You are a person of greatness and it is now time to write your new story with the awareness of your inner power and life to overcome seeming appearances of this life.  Be transformed by the renewing of your mind, for you are and always have been the beloved.
