Today’s Positive Thought

Today’s Positive Thought is by Roger von Oech from his book, A Whack On The Side Of  The Head .

“If you make an error, use it as a stepping stone to a new idea you might not have otherwise discovered.”

About Errors

About errors, hmmm. Being one who has made their fair share of errors in life, it is important not to knock yourself down or think some very unkind thoughts about yourself or your abilities.

Making errors is about learning from them.  I’ve made errors in baking and in the choices I’ve made. And, I have learned from them and moved on to living not regretting.

In his book, A Whack On The Side Of The Head, Roger von Oech wrote on errors.

“Whenever an error pops up, the usual response is, ‘Jeez, another screwup, what went wrong this time?’  The creative thinker, on the other hand, will realize the potential value of errors, and perhaps say something like, ‘Would you look at that!Where can it lead our thinking?’  And then he or she will go on to use the error as a stepping stone to a new idea.  As a matter of fact, the whole history of discovery is filled with people who used erroneous assumptions and failed ideas as stepping stones to new ideas.  Columbus thought he was finding a shorter route to India.  Johannes Kepler stumbled on to the idea of interplanetary gravity because of assumptions which were right for the wrong reasons.  And, Thomas Edison knew 1800 ways not to build a light bulb.”

The creative perspective about errors is, utilize the information we have gained and move on to greater ideas and be successful from the experience.

Today’s Positive Thought

Today’s quote is from Roger von Oech’s, A Whack On The Side Of The Head.

“Life is like an unassembled abacus.  It is what you make of it that counts.”

My life is assembled for success; in my heart, my thoughts and beliefs.  I am a success magnet.

I am grateful for my success.

Today’s Positive Thought

Today’s quote is from Roger Von Oech’s book, A Whack On The Side Of The Head.

“Whack yourself into trying new things and building on what you find–especially the small ideas.  The creative person has the self-faith that these ideas will somewhere.”

Today I am presented with new and creative ideas. I embrace them with joy knowing that they lead me to greater success in my life today.

I am grateful for my success.
