Positive Attitudes With A Baking Twist

What A Day

I have been foraging through artwork and photos from the past…lots of them.  I am focusing on the black and white photos from pre 1920’s and up to the 1960’s.

When my mother passed on we found a plethora of photos of her family, with my father, and with her friends.  Some very fine posed ones as well.

My mother never did follow her dream to become a dress designer in NYC, although she did design her own clothes, shirts for my father and me, and hand puppets for my puppet shows at school.  There were opportunities for her to work at top places after high school but she didn’t buck the trend to get married or engage in a career she desired. No matter how I tried over the years to have her design clothes, dresses in particular-her forte, and start something with someone or by herself it was always met with, “No.”  The main reason she gave was her age and that she was too old, she had been saying that for over 30 years.  She was a fantastic artist, designer and wrote poetry.  It saddened me to see her talents and abilities go unused and give up her artwork.  Neither she nor my father followed their dreams/desires and it showed.

When time permits, and the pc and scanner co-operate, I will be sharing the photos on the PCA blog.

No matter how much we love someone and see how talented they are, if they are not willing to step out and take up the cause no matter how much prodding on our part, then, it is their choice alone.  Of course I would mention design every year and it was always the same response.  If and when the time comes and the fire is lit within them to go forward we will be there and be supportive of all their endeavors.

For me, I am following my dreams and desires…no time like the present, no matter what your age.  As I head into the next decade, and celebrate my age, I welcome it with open arms and enthusiasm for the good that is now entering my life.

Life, you gotta live it.

Wishing you only the best in all things,
